Dormer bungalow re-build

The clients for this project wanted their house to be significantly larger and the energy bills to be much lower. To do this, the original 1960s dormer bungalow had to be stripped back to it's structure and much of the rear of the house was re-built from scratch. The rear of the house faces due south, allowing lots of sunlight into the main kitchen/ dining space. To prevent overheating of this space in the summer, an external canopy structure was designed to shade the high summer sun. This also provides a covered outdoor space, allowing the dining area to flow easily from inside to outside.
